👋 Hello and welcome to our intermittently appearing newsletter with news, events, updates and other information about our race timing app. #happytiming
HYROX and Spartan DEKA manual timing 💪
HYROX and Spartan DEKA Fit or DEKA Strong are global and popular fitness competitions that combine endurance running with functional workout stations. Participants complete multiple rounds of running followed by strength and conditioning workouts in a structured race format. This standardized format enables global rankings and easy comparison. RaceClocker offers a tailor made manual timing solution.

Large events are usually happening at a big venue and are chip timed, yet many smaller events are taking place at the local level. To facilitate race managers with easy timing and to provide participants with live results and engaging insights in their performance, we developed a specific timing experience for this. Special thanks to Hyrox Buitenpost and Breda CrossBox for being early customers helping us make the right product - that we further developed over the past weeks.
More detail about the manual timing features in RaceClocker for these race formats is available over here.
Partnering with Rowing Australia NSW 🚀
As RaceClocker continues to gain recognition in the international rowing community, we’re strengthening our commitment to supporting rowing associations as a trusted partner. We’re proud to be the official timing solution for Rowing New South Wales, where NSW GM Business & Sport Development, Elliot Shackcloth-Bertinetti, said: “We’re excited about our partnership with RaceClocker and our shared commitments to technology development, integration with existing systems, and race sanctioning processes. Whether it’s the Manning River, Hen & Chicken, Berry Park or beyond, non-SIRC regattas are instrumental in growing participation, building community and developing talent within NSW. Through our RaceClocker partnership we will continue to offer innovative regatta solutions to our members.” More detail here.
Lap timer improvements ⏱️
The lap timer now includes an ‘Undo’ button that removes the last timing action. As with all corrections, even wrongly made time stamps are captured in the timing history of the event, such that the race director can make additional corrections if needed.
The lap timer has integrated ‘Start’ buttons for an individual race format, as typically a lap race has start and finish at the same location. Additionally, a link to a separate start timer is included so that timing can also be done at another location, or that features like the countdown timer can be used in a lap race.
📢 And some more new bits
In last newsletter’s poll the favorite ‘to be’ feature was clearly camera based timing - so that’s what we have started the design and development for. The goal is to build a camera vision app that can assist with both primary timing as well as backup timing. More about this will follow soon. Additionally, we’ll focus in ‘25 on race management features next to a long list of smaller features and quality and performance improvements.
The two-step timing mode has now been added as a start timer option. This enables race directors with ‘ad hoc’ wave timing, by pairing a two-step time stamp with multiple participants without having to structure that in the start list up front.
RaceClocker users with a paid subscription can now download the invoice as a PDF file from the user profile page.
Participant information in the ‘Extra Info’ pop-up is now editable. Note this data can only be included in your start list when it was imported via file upload. If included, then just open the pop-up from the three-dot menu on the far right side of a line in the editor, and the data can be changed inline. All changes are instantly saved.
Awesome! The new lap timer is great! We used it to time 400m splits in a variety of long/middle distance events at our last track meet. Thank you!!
Two things we'd like to see in lap timing in the future:
1. Two part timing option where you can: FIRST: capture multiple times very quickly; think 2+ racers crossing lap mark at nearly the same time or immediate succession
SECOND: assign those times to the racers
2. Current interval/lap time displayed for each runner. This time is displayed after the lap is recorded and that is AWESOME. We'd like to also see it displayed while that lap is ongoing. So, as the racer approaches the lap mark, we see the running clock/time for that lap. When we hit the button to finish that lap and start the next, the new lap timer starts at 0:00:00.000 and continues running until we hit the lap button again.
Again, thank you for the awesome app and your very responsive approach to adding features suggested by your users.
Also, we're looking forward to the video features.
